Event Summary
The MHW Cable Contest will consist of a ride on the slider cable and a separate ride on the air cable, 2 passes each, 1 fall each, for a total of 4 passes. Scores from both rides will be combined. Cable riding is free for anyone from 5:30PM to 8:00PM. There will also be several crowd games and contests, including High Stakes Cornhole (Bean Bag Toss) and a Meet Some Peeps contest. In brief, it will be a great time for anyone watching or participating. Bring your sharpies for autographs cause you never know who will show up! (Hint, hint.)
Emily Copeland-Durham and Amber Wing really pumped up the Colorado wake scene in 2009 with their appearance and we had a record turnout of 93 total pulls and 84 individual contestants for that wakeboard contest (boat), breaking our previous record of 78 contestants. Because of the consistently growing turnouts, starting in 2010 we have had to limit each contest division to 10 total riders (we absolutely max out every time and have to cap it somewhere) so sign up early and don't wake-crastinate!!
Historically, the prizes for participants and spectators have been absolutely amazing - just ask around - it's been crazy and nearly everyone goes home with something big! You MUST participate in a contest of some sort to be eligible for the super grand prizes this year, which will be selected in a random drawing. So even if you are total beginner or just working on your tan, it's worth participating in something to earn some free goodies!
Results will be posted at the intermission and Tweeted (Twitter) as they come in. Links to our Twitter page are on your left. This event is exclusively conducted, funded, and hosted by Mile
High Wakeboarding and we have several contest divisions - see below.
Please be an upstanding citizen and limit any rowdiness and alcohol consumption since we are likely to have little ones onsite. We don't want to have to make it "not fun" for anyone so help us out and keep it PG rated and in control.

General
Contest Guidelines
Judging for each division is based on a combined score
of Style, Technical Difficulty, and Composition. Advanced, Expert, and
Outlaw divisions receive a small bonus for the Best Trick
and Air on the Cable and for completing the "bonus trick" to be determined at each event.
Women, Masters,
and Groms may compete in both their respective division, and
another division if they choose to. Registration, entry fees,
and points will be calculated separately.
Riders
are allowed one (1) fall per ride. A rider's contest run is over on
a second (2nd) fall. Advanced, Expert, and Outlaw riders still standing
at the end of their run are eligible to hit the bonus trick.
MHW
has allowed check-in and start times to be flexible so you
don't have to sit at the event all day - although there are plenty of other activities to keep you busy. Please note the
event schedule.
MHW has created the current schedule based on participation
at the last contest and expected turnout, and will keep it updated as needed, or
as additional participation requires.
Each
division is limited to a maximum of 10 riders based on the
order that MHW receives their registration. Sorry, no exceptions.
MHW will post results throughout the day on Twitter and award prizes for 1st -3rd after the contest has concluded.
All
signed up riders are welcome to catch a $10 ride session on the cable on Friday, July 13, and can also check in at that time.

Other Contest Details
It is a smart idea to bring chairs, shade, and sunscreen,
as you will need them - and feel free to set up under any tents we have set up.
Small,
friendly dogs are always welcome (please clean up after your
pet). Never leave pets unattended.
The
rider traveling the furthest distance (based on home address
or your plane ticket) will
be awarded a "sponsored" entry into the contest and a free t-shirt. This rider will
be announced the day of the event and all registration costs
will be refunded to them on the spot. This is MHW's way of
saying thank you for making the effort to attend!
In
the event of poor weather, MHW will bump the contest to the
next morning or if that option is not available to us, we will entertain you until it passes over. We'll do our best to keep everyone
out of the sun and rain and keep it fun! The dates we have picked are usually pretty great for weather but you never know.
The
contest will start exactly on time and we will do our best
to keep it moving as quickly and efficiently as possible.
All
contest riders receive a MHW contest T-shirt. (Winners for each division receive the coveted, Red T-shirt that you can't buy!)
Contest
riders should bring their own board, life vest, and gear but plan ahead with us if you will need equipment.
We
have developed these contests to be family-friendly. Please
pick up after yourself, behave yourself, do not park in areas
that block others, and have courtesy and respect for others
around you, as well as the lake property. Note local drinking laws within parks and/or cities. Please
note that any music played should be PG rated and radio friendly. Help us out and don't make us be the bad guys!
MHW
can always use photographers and other volunteers at each
contest/event. If you are personable and can snap a photo,
or would like to help with other activities, let us know.
We fund these events entirely on our own so we need all the help we can get!
Lastly,
we conduct these events just for you! If you have constructive
feedback and would like your voice to be heard, call or email
us (moreinfo at milehighwakeboarding.com) your suggestions.
